Kitchen in action

Here's a glimpse of part of the new kitchen complete with buns and coffee cakes in the oven.  Not very tidy but it's up and running and it's good to be able to cook properly again and sit down to eat civilised meals at the table.

More pics of the whole room to come later when we've unpacked properly and set it all straight.

Garage coming down

As soon as the garage is away we can bring the caravan home and get it equipped ready for our first trip out in it.  Booked for February - weather permitting.

Two Rooms become One 28 October

Here's the dividing wall....

Now it's gone!

The brown tiled fireplace is out and  we thought we would keep the hole.

Boiler and heating

This week the new boiler was installed under the stairs.  Modern and more efficient radiators replaced the old ones.  Hot water on demand now and it never runs out.  Luxury!

Moving Forward in the Garden

While the electricians are tearing up the house Paul has been busy in the garden.  Tidying and redefining the paths.  It looks good now and starting to take shape.  A long way to go but no rush!

Rewiring Day 3

Things are moving at a pace now.  Sockets are done upstairs and down.  Temporary arrangements in situ for kitchen and utility so it can be connected up when the builders are done.

Still living in complete uproar and upheaval but it doesn't matter when you start to see the plan coming together.

Preservation and Restoration Done

All the damp, rot and worm are treated so most of the dirty work is behind us.  Rewiring and new central heating system are next on the list

I have mainly bare walls downstairs and bare floorboards upstairs and down but the whole place is fresher without the carpets and damp walls.

We're finishing the clean up over the next couple of days and getting furniture back into the right rooms.  It'll be a long time before it's finished but I'm very happy it's underway.

Where the cooker used to be.  Gone to the tip now so no more cakes for a while.

New skirting boards.

One Down, Rest of House to Go!

This is the carpet, Lino and newspaper which Paul has removed from our bedroom.

The newspaper is 44 years old, dated 1969 so I guess that is the age of the carpet. Can't wait for the rest to go, the floorboards are better than that dusty old stuff.

Our Home

At last we own our home.  It's taken twice as long as expected but it is ours now.

Next challenge is renovating and getting it how we would like it.

A kitchen by Christmas maybe?

A New Chapter

Today we sold our house, subject to contract.

Last July we viewed this house and liked it

It sold in November and we were really disappointed.

A couple of weeks before we accepted an offer on our home, the above sale fell through and it became available again.  Maybe it was meant for us.

Looking forward to moving soon

and starting our renovation project !!!
