My Holiday Treat

Spent my first afternoon in Edinburgh test driving self threading overlockers at Drummonds Sewing.  Nothing wrong with my faithful Bernina but no longer able to thread it due to sight loss.  My interest in garment sewing has rekindled, particularly with knit fabrics so an overlocker is fairly essential for a good job.

Have had it a month now and getting on very well – I can even see to change needles myself with aid of magnification.  This has extended my sewing pleasure no end.

Self threading – Amazing!!!

Garment Sewing for Me

I've worked out that the last garments I made for myself would be maternity wear when expecting Rachelle...  About 24 years ago.

This is an experiment to see if it was still possible to knock something together using quite patchy central, and blurred peripheral vision.  It was slow waiting for things  to come into focus but overall I'm pleased with the results.  Fit is a bit neat so there's a choice of diet or make a bigger size.

Shopping is probably the quickest way to expand the wardrobe, but it was fun having a go again.

Just the hems to do now.
