Fab Day out with Special Friends

The mist soon turned to sunny blue skies and a fab day with Sue, Jemma and GD Millie. We met at the Filey Macular Group Low Vision event, then up to West Ayton for Millie and Scooby to spend some playtime together.

Can't wait for next time!

First Caravanning of the year

All's calm and sleepy after arriving at the site. Scooby couldn't wait so I took him for a run round the field as soon as we got there.

Really relaxing break - pity it's almost the end of the season before we could get up here.  Might squeeze another in hopefully.

Bee Gees Tribute

Jive Talkin' at Bridlington Spa.  Fabulous Bee Gees tribute and great night out - loud music proved no problem for Scooby, he slept through most of it.

Chutney

We need about 2.5kg Scooby. Is there enough there?

Dad's reading the instructions on the new chopper from Lakeland's sale. Works great, fine chopped onions without Mum needing First Aid.

All in the pan for Autumn Tomato Chutney.

17 jars done!

Very Smart!

Menfolk all set for a family wedding.  Scooby not welcome in case of allergies so I get to stay home alone with my best friends Sparky, Skrapy and Scooby.

I know who got the best deal...

22 Aug

Helping Rachelle and Jack move home.  Leaving the Sheffield City Centre studio apartment and moving to the outskirts.  This is the old place, no pics of the new one - too tired by the time we got there, but it's lovely and quiet, very spacious and surrounded by lots of green.

Chicken Dhansak

Saw some recipes I liked on this programme recently.  Got the book and trying one out for dinner tonight.

It took a long time to finely chop 4 cloves garlic, 1 fresh red chilli and 5cm finger of ginger, measure 4 different quantities of spices and..... I have never used split lentils when cooking.  I still have all my digits but could do with a gadget for the fine chopping, couldn't see what I was doing at all.

If the aroma is anything to go by we're onto a winner.

Ready for Action!

The house is ours now so work can begin!

The roof timbers need spraying for woodworm so all the fibre glass insulation needs to be removed and stored elsewhere until the job is done.  Paul has decided to do it himself (not the spraying) and has dressed for the part.

Sparky has been very helpful so far by laying on the end of the bed watching.  Unusual for him to take a back seat but its too hot to be bothered.

We spent a lot of time emptying the loft at the old house, sorting the stuff and deciding its future.  Bit of a surprise here.  There's old rotting carpets, suitcases, tons of books, doors, fishing rod and he's only half way across the roof.  Lets hope the five pound notes are stashed in the other half!

Vision Zone, Leeds

Tricia and I were at the Thakray Museum in Leeds manning an awareness raising stall for the Macular Society.  It was really busy all morning, we never stopped

I signed up for a three month trial of Calibre Talking Books.  I no longer read for pleasure but I find listening sends me to sleep.  Apparently lots of people find that and it should get better.
