Goodbye Benji

Benji has been with us since 18 February 2008 when we adopted him from the RSPCA.  He blended into our family immediately and became our loyal, loving and constant companion.  We never suspected that when he went lame, four weeks later, we would be saying "Goodbye".  It all happened so quickly.  Our own vet and three others tried their best to make him better but eventually a large tumour was found on his spine and there was nothing could be done.  He left us on 13th December and we miss him so much.  We could not have wished for a better dog to share our home.

The Forest and Coast

We decided it was time for a day out so we packed a picnic and went up to Sawdon and Brompton woods, found a nice place to sit and play with Benji and had our tea.  It was extremely hot, but very quiet and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours enjoying the surroundings. 

After tea we moved on through Forge Valley, Lady Edith's Drive through Raincliffe Woods and out towards the coast North of Scarborough.  Below is the view of Robin Hood's Bay taken from Ravenscar.

Still Snowy ten days on........

Ten days since the snow started to fall and it is still here.  The pavements are like glass - only the main roads have been cleared.

Embroidered Blanket for Benji

Finished Benji's blanket - we all love this fabric. It's a flannel from USA and it is gorgeously soft to touch. Something I would use as a quilt backing in the future, particularly for a child or baby. I could have embroidered forever on it, but stopped at six motifs. I used Janome memory cards - "Puck & Friends" and "Kipper". Two of the many memory card bargains I have picked up lately on eBay.

I think the blanket may be kept for best or the front room sofa - not a great choice of colour for a black dog.

No Sewing

Not been near my sewing machine or embellisher for a fortnight. Under the weather over half term and then we came across the dog we would like to adopt so I've been tied up with settling him in and getting used to having Benji around the house. We're all getting along fine so far, he's a lovely dog and we feel very lucky to have found him.
