Our eldest son Tim left for South Africa on Thursday evening - we nervously watched Heathrow departures live around 6pm and saw his plane take off safely. When we got up next morning it was back to the internet to watch Johannesburg arrivals live to see the plane land safely around 11 hours from take off. Shortly after the landing Tim 'phoned with a brief message to say all was well.
He is staying at the Mankwe Wildlife Reserve for 11 days and completing two university modules whilst he is there. The place looks amazing - I so wish I could be there with him, but I expect he'll manage extremely well without me!!!
