You're making progress at least and I think it's a good idea to keep the chimney breast/fireplace. You never know when solid fuel or logs will be the better option in view of power cuts. I hope your cataract op continues to go well. My husband has his left eye done this year and while it's not perfect it has been well worth doing, just waiting for the right eye now.
