New Tables

A tidy view of the new sewing tables - perfect height for comfortable sewing.  Lots of room to the side and behind and plenty of room for my A1 cutting mat.  I wouldn't do a lot of cutting at this height, but I can sit and rotary cut small pieces easily.

Looks perfect, like the quilt behind too.

I'm interested to see your tables Lynne as I am just trying to decide whether to invest in a purpose made sewing machine table or to just buy a decent, strong craft table. I don't have a lot of room in my sewing area and was thinking of treating myself to a special cupboard but I'm wondering if a simple (Go-Pak)table would work just as well. I have just bought a new-to-me Janome 6600P so I want a sturdy set up. Your work area looks very suitable and plenty of space to work.

Hi Julie, having just bought the Horizon I can't justify more hundreds of pounds buying a purpose built table - there is one for the Horizon, but not sure that it will be available in the UK and if it is $499 looks like 3/400 here. Two very solid, metal legged school desks, free to collect as they were destined for the tip is a perfect solution for me. If the machine would sink into the surface that would be a bonus, but with these tables I think it would then be too low. There is a tutorial out there somewhere of Eleanor Burns' son converting an existing dining type table into a flat bed sewing area - looks like a retirement project for my husband !!!

Thanks Zetor, the quilt behind is a quilt as you go using a jelly roll and is hanging fire a bit (since January). It's folded in half up there and is at the hand stitching stage - that's why I haven't got round to it yet. Maybe it will be my autumn challenge - it would be nice and bright on our king size bed in the winter.
